wow. just wow.
pros:
- the writing is beautiful. it took me a little while to get into it, but once i did, it carried me away. Schwab has a way of making it all gorgeous.
- the story is slow, but in the best way. It feels savoured, drawn out and gives a taste of the three hundred years of Addie's life.
- unlike some other immortal characters, we really got to see Addie's age and how she's passed all that time.
- i loved Luc's character, with all his complexities and emotions.
- also, Schwab does a great job of etching out the details of Addie's curse with how she can leave a mark and how she can't.
- Henry and her love felt fast but still real, budding.
- despite the ending being bittersweet, it felt perfect for the book. It was an ellipses, not an ending, and we know how stubborn Addie is. We are left with every hope that she'll get what she wants
cons:
- it possibly dragged very slightly in the middle, when there was a lot of flashbacks and i just wanted to see the present, but that wasn't really a fault.
- i might've liked a touch longer spent with Addie and Henry's romance, and her explaining why she had to steal - that fight felt unresolved.
but overall, i adored it <3
