I hate to be so negative because at the end of the day, a real person wrote this book. But OMG is it bad. Nothing made sense at all. It was so scattered and messy. Even the characterization made no sense, no one stayed true to their selves or followed up on things they said they would do.
One chapter specifically drove me insane. Maise wants to cook dinner together, as a cute way to get to know each other and spend time together. Then for the rest of the chapter they don't touch food. They instead spend time talking about past relationships. Travis goes so far as to say he is starving and might pass out of he doesn't eat but then insists Maise talk about her past, parents and childhood trauma. Why not have the discussion while cooking. Why not mix in descriptions of Maise being anxious and trying to chop something, or Travis being so in love he can't take his eyes off her and accidently throws in the wrong ingredients. It was just so boring and nothing happened.
On top of all of this. It was so unrealistic. One day to fall in love, one week to a proposal. That's the whole story too, there is no consequences after or the couple trying to make it work, it's just instant love and that's it. So bad...
