I think this shows a great evolution of Helen's writing, it is emotive, impactful and challenging.  After the fun sexiness of the first book and the sweet but averageness of the second, this really strikes a different tone.  While romance is at the base of this book, it really is about the growth of the main character Anna, her diagnosis, her agency, her love, her pain and her becoming.  Quan is defiantly a great supporting character but not really as much a focus as Anna.  If you are expecting a sweet romcom I think you will be disappointed but for a hard-hitting contemporary with romance one of the best I've read in a while.  Cannot wait to see what direction Helen's writing goes into.
