oddly enough, this book was a very sensorial experience. every page leapt out to me in gritty, tangible bursts that made me feel as though the words could reach out and touch me, envelop me in their scents. for what the premise is, 'The Sin Eater' offers a very unique, original premise that feels reminiscent of British history in a deliberate way. I was incredibly moved by May's characterisation and journey, and the reminder that she is roughly 14 or 15 makes it all the more poignant. Overall, a really well-crafted and masterfully told story.
