Lair of the White Worm by Bram Stoker

1.0

This was written by an alien who had the concept of a book explained to them by a toddler and thought to themselves “Oh yeah, I could do that”. It is incomprehensible, while also being incredibly dumb. The primary actions of this book come in the form of staring contests, there are 4 chapters dedicated to a man waxing poetic about an evil kite, and multiple mongooses (mongeese?) get brutally murdered. It does, however, contain one of my favorite passages in all of literature where one character asks another why he thinks it is called “The White Worm”. When the second character does not know the first one says that after much puzzling out they have determined that is is called the white worm because it is white.

Can’t make this shit up.

Also, and I’ve kind of buried the lede here, this book is stupidly and unbelievably racist. Like horrible, horrible and just gross racism. So yeah. Don’t read it.
