I wanted to like this more than I did. What it came down to for me is that a lot of the prose was describing things being done. I prefer to read more about how people feel and their motivations for doing what they do. While we got the background of Raaz and Camelia, it didn’t completely let me know them.
My favorite part of this had to be Raaz drawing the animals and giving them names. And him asleep on the couch with the cat and dog. I liked Camelia, she was a different sort of heroine, bold.
All in all, I am looking to read more from this debut author. She’s promising, but this novella wasn’t IT for me.
