I'm going to take a leaf out Joey from Friends' book. I'm putting books in the freezer. This is a reread so I knew what was coming. Liam breaks my heart. Now Xaden breaks it. His cliffhanger still had me ranting to my poor Sebastian.

The story in this book is just wonderful. It picks up after the battle at Resson after Xaden takes Violet to Aretia to be mended. The story pans out and we have a new figure of disgust. Vice Commandant Varrish. Hes an actual swine. There's battles, mythological animal death, people death. It never ends at Basgiath.

The characters were all fit for purpose I fell. Let's start with Violet. I really liked her in the last book. This one she's like a petulant child. Her whole battle with Xaden over him not telling her everything is just pointless. There are things that he just can tell her for her own safety and his. I didn't like this time round.

Xaden. Now a graduated Lieutenant. I love Xaden for his spirit, unwavering loyalty, bravery and sacrifice. I'm needing answers after the ending! He's still a solid book boyfriend.

Minor characters were all great. Dain getting his redemption arc makes me happy. Varrish and his cronies are just disgusting.

The book is in first person from Violet's POV. Except chapter 66. That's in Xaden's. It works but I would like a bit more of a dual POV to get more into Xaden's mind.

Overall, I love the Empyrean series. It makes me ugly cry and still gives me epic book hangovers. I really recommend it.
