Black people are so innovative! They have literally flavored the world and introduced so many of the culinary delights that are now enjoyed the world over. High on the Hog demonstrates this, and packs an incredible amount of history and information into 304 pages. It at times presents as a reference or textbook but is very engaging. I did watch the first season of the Netflix show based on the book prior to reading, but the format of the book vs the show are different enough for me to enjoy both. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!
