The Idea of You by Robinne Lee

3.0

I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. I, like many women right now, picked it up because because I found out about the movie coming out with Anne Hathaway. I'm so glad I did.

This book has a lot more heart and depth than I expected, and showcases a real love story. I liked the commentary about societal expectations on women surrounding motherhood and work, and hypocrisy about age discrepancies between men and women when it comes to dating.

Overall, this was a surprisingly beautiful book, and it wrecked my heart a little bit. I didn't cry, but I kind of wanted to because as a woman in her 40s, I feel all of those things deeply.

Hayes is a surprisingly well-written character. I expected him to be vapid and shallow, and he was completely the opposite. I think most people would enjoy this. It's a surprising romance.
