Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

1.5

The ending is definitely the better half of this book. Ari slowly realizing that he is capable of being a compassionate human being and not forcing himself to be the better version of his brother is partially worth the beginning. However, there are a few issues that bring down the rating a bit:
1. the beginning was so boring. It got to the point where I didn’t even want to continue reading. I don’t know what the issue with the beginning even was, I was just bored of it.
2. The story moves ahead entire months with barely any warning. I couldn’t tell when events were taking place half the time.
3. The dialogue could get confusing as there weren’t many speaking tags and Dante and Ari often repeated each other leading to me having to reread longer dialogue stretches in order to understand who said what.
4. Dante just didn’t change much. I get his character was sorta to move Ari ahead on his character arc, and he was interesting, but he just didn’t develop through the story as much as Ari.
