A Is For Alibi by Sue Grafton
4.0
Having eyeball-read most of Grafton’s books when I was single-digits-old, I thought it could be interesting to check them out as an adult, and on audio (so I could be hands-free) to see if I still enjoyed them.
In this first installment, Kinsey investigates a case deemed closed, hired by the supposed murderer. Set in southern Cali, it does pack some 1980s / SoCal vibes—at least what I imagine them to be, as I wasn’t there!
It held up for me, better than most things from my childhood—Grafton’s writing is basically timeless. I’ll probably re-read the rest of the series, but slowly, around other stuff.
4 stars.
A classic, by one of the greats in the PI trope.
