City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett
5.0
I have utterly slacked at reading for the past couple of months but after I picked this up again and actually let myself be immersed in its rich plot, I was blissfully reading through the remaining 3/4 of the book.
City of Stairs is such a BIG book. I am figuratively speaking, of course, but that's the beauty of it; my entire journey in it was filled with SO MUCH history, I am in shock. I found myself drowning, gasping for air for the first few chapters that's why it took me so long to jump back and brave the waters. But my word, this was so intricately written I'm (a little) surprised it's fiction. It could be something that actually happened in the past. It was such a joy to read, but I'm sure this isn't your usual cup of tea so I don't know if I could recommend it to my friends. Only people who genuinely love reading fiction and mystery and don't mind a lengthy history lesson would enjoy this. 5 stars for me!!
