Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix

2.0

Never picking up another Grady Hendrix book, ever, no matter how much anyone insists.

Every horror cliche you can think of, every overt reference to IKEA, feelings you feel when you work in retail, trying to draw parallels between the two in a half-assed way, jabs at major name Ghost Hunters/adventurers and how seriously they take their equipment: it's all here, in this book. Jason Hawes and Josh Gates should sue for the fact that their names are even included in this insipid mess.

If the writing had been worse, I'd have DNF'd this one early on, but I wanted to see what happened to a couple of the characters. Luckily, this was a fast read, and the characters did what I thought they'd do, and I was able to count this as finished.

This book gets 2 stars, rounded up to 2.5 for the clever visual design -- which, btw, was totally wasted on this nonsense book. Clearly, all effort was put into the design, and none was spent trying to make an interesting or funny horror parody book.
