Eleanor and Park was awful. This book had been on my TBR list FOR YEARS and I cannot believe that this is what I wanted to read so badly. The way that characters of color are portrayed in this book is unsettling and it was almost like they were thrown in just to get a check mark for "diversity." This novel left me feeling like little to no research was done on the experiences of people of color...in 1986...in Nebraska. I'm honestly too tired to go into all the ways (outside of the aforementioned) that this book was distasteful and offensive. Please save yourself the read.
