I found this book extremely charming and incredibly heartbreaking. The style and tone that it was written in were so unique and they had such character. The story is sad from so many angles but you grow to love every single character so much - they all have such depth. I never wanted to stop reading and I was drawn in from the start.
Yes, there were unanswered questions, but not in an unsatisfying way, and that’s just life at the end of the day. This element didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book at all.
Hearing from Oskar’s perspective was really, really well done. We got to know his motives and rationales for his actions, even if they seemed unusual or irrational to an outside eye. I really grew to love him, I think it would be very difficult not to after reading this book to be honest! I really did love the story.
