This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor by Adam Kay

5.0

This book is an account of Adam Kay's 6 years spent as a junior doctor in the NHS through his diary entries. It documents the ups and downs of the profession sprinkled with humorous anecdotes.

It made me laugh out loud at so many places that I was laughing like a maniac while driving. It gives one a first-hand insight into a doctor's life and how they deal with death and tackle an active threat to the healthcare system. It also shows the reader that even though doctors may not show any emotions while they try to save lives, and when they are not able to, they are very much human and death affects their mental health as well . . . they are just not in the profession where it is okay to show their emotions openly.

Hilarious, sad, and horrifying at the same time, I believe this memoir is something everyone should read. Highly recommended!
