This was a very engaging book, on its surface, it has the feel of a charming cosy mystery. With some great characters and a really interesting main character. But it also includes some deeper topics: dealing with the loss of a mother, coming out in the early 60s, woman's futures and opportunities etc wrapped up in the main characters' aim to get rid of her future stepmother.
