I have mixed feelings about the second book....IT IS A LOT!

*SPOILERS*

Persephone is truly not thinking logically about...anything. When her boss let's her know that he LEGITIMATELY has no choice but to ask her and to write this piece about herand Hades and she's upset with the situation, I get it. I mean I feel like she wants the luxuries of the gods-such as not having to do certain things-but doesn't want to be known as a god, you cannot have it both ways. Also she could've easily quit, wrote the piece independently and bashed the newspaper and been like "they alluded that if I didn't write this I'd be fired and I wanted to do it on my own but whatever..." kind of thing. Everyone around her sees it but her. It's very frustrating. Also, the CONSTANT "everything is unfair cause the gods do this" like miss girl life is unfair. She keeps spouting snide remarks to Hades about the gods and he's already said multiple times there are rules he has to follow as a god and she isn't letting it sink in. SHE'S not being fair to him. Also, Lexa was totally right to call Persephone out about the ALL the gods wanting revenge. Sybil asked her to not do anything, she shouldn't have done nothing! She's so focused on her own crusades that she's not even taking into account the people around her. But that girl in the coffee shop was a HUGE BITCH! I wanted Persephone to smite her. I also don't like that Persephone blames Hades for never telling her about his charities. Like I get it, her mom painted an awful portrait of him but she still hasn't let go of it all, even after everything they've been through. Why does he have to let her know about all the good he does? Why doesn't she ever ask him? Why does she STILL assume he's the man her mom painted for her? And he apologizes to her? Girl ask! Or since you're an amazing journalist, look it up! Jeez, not like she's constantly spilling her life secrets to him. Listen I get being in your 20s and thinking your invincible because you're right but she's talking to her boss like he knows she's a god! Again, wanting to the luxuries of a god without coming out as one. Honestly Persephone just keeps making mistake after mistake after mistake and blaming everyone else. She knows nothing about the gods yet has the balls to do all this? Like I'm not reading out of enjoyment I'm reading cause I'm committed to the series and hoping the next book is better. Lexa getting hurt sucked ass for sure but her constant "well maybe he doesn't love me as much as I thought" is more reminiscent of a flipping teenager rather than someone in their 20s. I get that it's because of her bitch of a mother but if you ain't going to get help for your problems then stop CONSTANTLY questioning Hades love. Like it's very annoying, she's an arrogant insecure lady right now who's pissing me off. Jason though would've been catching strays cause I would've gone down to the hospital and checked him real quick. I cannot emphasize how stupid her decision are, and her constant need to blame literally everyone else. I understand that she's learning and figuring things out, what upsets me is her complete disregard for EVERYONE ELSE TELLING HER TO NOT DO THESE THINGS! An utter lack of communication between them is infuriating. She is constantly saying he needs to communicate when she doesn't! Love Hecate but she's wrong, Persephone for sure ruined Lexa's life. She could've pet her go and now Lexa is not well. I get it though, I would want to save my friend but she didn't learn from the situation with Orpheus, she didn't want to save Lexa for Lexa, she wanted to save her for herself. That's selfish.
But anyway, the sheer lack of communication throughout the whole book wasn't even entertaining anymore, it was just annoying and frustrating. Persephone was just constantly whining and never thinking about anyone else. Hades was just waaaaaay to forgiving and I hope there relationship improves MASSIVELY in the third book or imma have to drop the series. 2.75/5
