I am not a person who likes biographies. I don’t like things set in the past. But I’m so glad I entered this book completely blind due to it being picked by a book club I joined late.
Once I picked it up I was not able to put it down! Love all the representation, especially with a major character as a mixed Black woman. I loved the way each husband was broken down and reading the timeline of Evelyn’s life was truly like reading a juicy Hollywood tell-all.
4/5 - due to the last arc falling flat. The biggest secret is told in the last 15 or so pages and while I didn’t see it coming, it just didn’t hit as hard as it could have. It seemed like more of a last minute throw in to build the connection between the two characters.
