This was the longest email ever. With no chapters and a continuous thoughtstream from the main character, all I could think about for this entire story was that the guy she was hoping would meet her in a few days had to get through an email that was equivalent of a 500 page book.
I was expecting more of a contemporary romance vibe from this, but it is well blurbed - this story has the feel of All The Bright Places, and focuses strongly on mental health struggles, a traumatic past, and Cassie's attempts to control the voice she hears in her head.
The story takes a turn three quarters of the way through and becomes a missing person mystery, which was a little jarring. The author took a realistic approach for this story, and therefore chose to not give us closure, which after 500 pages was pretty disappointing.
