It's hard to believe, but this is actually one of those rare cases where the movie did it better.
I first watched the movie on Amazon Prime and was so hooked that I couldn’t wait for the next installment to come out, so I decided to pick up the ebooks and dive into the story. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to my expectations.
The writing style made it very obvious that the author comes from Wattpad. It felt unpolished and lacked the finesse I was hoping for. The characters, who I loved in the movie, felt drastically different in the book. Noah, in particular, was a disappointment—she came across as much younger, more whiny, and overly naive. On the other hand, Nick was far more cruel to her in the book, which made their dynamic uncomfortable to read.
One thing that stood out to me was the age difference. In the movie, it wasn’t as noticeable, as Noah acted older and more mature. However, in the book, the difference was glaring.
That being said, it was still a quick and engaging read, just not as enjoyable as I had hoped. Despite my reservations, I’ll likely continue with the series out of sheer curiosity to see where the story goes.
