Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

4.0

It was hard for me to get going on this book because of the violence of a father toward his children and wife in the beginning. I did end up enjoying the book. Takes place in Nigeria, a fanatically religious father abuses his kids and wife in awful ways but they are sent to live with their aunt who is a university professor and they see a different life that is filled with laughter and noise. They go from an wealthy huge home to a very small apartment with very little money. Coming home was always dreaded.
