because this was the first sally rooney book I read it really took me the first 30 pages just to get used to her writing style, but it was so good in the end

this book definitely isn't going to be enjoyable for people who prefer plot driven stories but I loved it. connell and marianne were so interesting and I desperately needed to understand them when reading.

although the constant cycle of miscommunication between them can get repetitive and borderline annoying, it makes sense. because in the end they're just normal people who struggle to express themselves just like we all do.

the ending made so much sense when looking at everything that happened between the two of them. but it also showed something new, especially for marianne because throughout the book there was heavy emphasis in the fact that she'd never day no to connell. yet it then end, she did say no to him, finally doing something for herself.
