This is the second Mhairi McFarlane in 2 days. I enjoyed this just as much as the first. I love Mhairi's writing style and her voice. And I think she could be a new favourite author. Like if Sally Rooney books were happily ever after based on miscommunication tropes. I really enjoy how this borders on the edge between romance and literary fiction. Be warned that like 'If I Never Met You' it is a very slow burn. Huge buildup with the final twist romance. Again Mhairi's ability to write amazing strong, witty and interesting female main characters is brilliant. I love the authors delve into serious issues to add depth and realism. Just read the trigger warnings beforehand.
