Are you someone who also grew up loving magical girls but are now bitter and jaded about reality? Do you often feel helpless in the face of climate change and other challenges of life in our capitalistic hellscape and wish you had magical powers to make real, impactful changes? Well, look no further than this book right here! Our protagonist, ready to end it all over credit card debt, instead learns that she is in fact a magical girl who might have the power to save the world.
I really enjoyed my time with this little novella. It strikes a nice balance of nostalgia and commentary that keeps it from being too depressing OR too fun. At some points, I actually wished it had been a little longer, but for what it is I think it's really enjoyable. The art at the beginning of the chapters is perfect, and I highly recommend reading the translator's note too. I hope some studio out there animates this because I think it would be a real hit.
