An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
5.0
The only thing I didn’t fully love about this book was the FMC, and there’s nothing she did wrong specifically, I just didn’t love her. I do however love Elias as a character and I found myself absolutely obsessed with his chapters.
What I particularly enjoyed about this book was the fact that it’s not your typical enemies to lovers, in fact, they barely spend time together. Yes there is a romance element between them but I think the next book will flesh this out. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I found a fantasy book that didn’t have everything mushed in the first book.
It is YA but deals with more mature themes, which in my opinion created a perfect blend. I’d also describe it as a fantasy and sci-fi mix which I personally haven’t read before.
Now I’m really looking forward to the next book
