Reading this and listening to 1984 at the same time is an interesting experience. You can see the start of the ideas that are explored later in 1984, the changing history, the changing of rules, the cult of personality.

Every time I read this it seems more relevant than the last. Some how reading the book feels more emotional than listening to the audiobook, perhaps I connect more when I’m more concentrated in what I’m reading. However I would very much recommend the audiobook by Adam Buxton as that was very good and the voices he had for each character fit their personalities so well.

Everyone should read this at least once. I just happen to be one of those people that re-reads their faves in multiple formats.

I can’t stand the end of Boxer’s story. I wish he could have had the sense to rebel against Napoleon, as he was clearly the strongest animal on the farm.
