I was just a bit bored. Like a couple other reviewers, I was expecting the story to be more of a fantasy adventure with romance as a major plot line and that is definitely not it.

I’m not sure I would even call this a romance, since there really isn’t any romance happening between the two main characters. It’s essentially a monster erotica (which I can be all for) that tries to have a plot but doesn’t really succeed? Because I was expecting more of a plot I think my personal expectations resulted in the DNF.

I think the main reason for the plot not really succeeding is that the main character is extremely passive and things are just happening around her. I don’t think every FMC needs to be that badass, independent, I can fight and I’m good at everything sort of character, but it’s extremely boring when they don’t have any agency or take an active role in the plot.

I also found myself questioning her motives for even initiating sex (foreplay, whatever) with the MMC at the beginning of them meeting. It wasn’t particularly necessary for her survival and idk I just wanted there to be a reason for all of it kicking off. I thought the sex scenes were alright, though I think that there could have been more tension build up if the penetrative sex had been put off for a bit longer.
