“Only one can wear the crown of Dante.”
Queen of Hearts is the 4th book of the Empire of Shattered Crowns series. The book continues to follow Emilia, Laurence and Thessian in all of their points of view. We get to see more Clayton (who has become one of my favorite characters) and Valerian.
Emilia again has her own opinions and interests, she’s fiercely loyal to her friends and at the same time she’s dealing with her past trauma. There was a lot of character development with her and also the other main characters.
In the third book there was some romance and in this fourth book there was some more. I really liked the love triangle between Emilia and her possible love interests. And there was romantic elements between other characters too.
The book was again filled with action, twists and turns. The characters end up in a lot of sticky situations, like an assassination attempt and fights.
May is a great writer who knows how to keep the reader engaged and entertained from the first page.
Can’t wait to read more!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
Moderate: Animal death, Death, Violence, Blood, Grief, Death of parent, Murder, Alcohol, and Injury/Injury detail
