How could they do this to me. I want to THROW UP.
Anyway. Despite my current feelings about the end, I loved this book. Really though, it’s like 3 books in one; it spans over a hundred years (kinda) and the main characters / plot keep changing (at least, the main cast of characters changes once and a while). It also got a bit “woo-woo” as my mother would say.
But anyway, this was a fantastic sprawling sci fi story about, what are essentially, army-engineered vampires whose motivations seem to be weirdly connected.
As depressing as it is to have characters you like die, I thought all of the deaths, and the story progression in general, was really well done. This was a long book, with a lot going on, but I felt invested in the whole thing and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen. I swear every time I said “one more chapter”, something would happen and I’d need to keep reading. Even though it ended in a way I hated, Im really looking forward to the next book (thank GOD it’s a series).
