Night by Elie Wiesel

5.0

This is a truly harrowing and haunting read. Wiesel's delivery is simultaneously emotive and yet bare, the book reading like the stark nightmares and memories that he is forced to endure. Despite being an at times grimace-inducing experience, this was never a grueling read and it never feels that he is sharing everything. A lot is consciously left unsaid and, as a reader, you are grateful. It never reads as a book that exists purely to sicken and horrify; it is so much more than that. A tender, honest book that is thick with shadows and darkness.
