This book was so much fun! When I saw this book in my local bookstore, my mind went like "What!? Gotta grab this!" And so I did. And thankfully it did not disappoint (because it was a bit more expensiveđ).
In this book Justin Elizabeth Sayre introduces the reader to common terms, slang and celebrities as well as icons of the queer scene and history. The things they introduce and talk about come from all over the world and throughout all the time, from ancient Greek poet Sappho to modern day poets like Ocean Vuong as well as icons like Lizzo and Dolly Parton.
While reading, I thought that every single entries was researched with utmost care and written with so much joy! The explanations are not written in a strict and only informative way, no, they are written as cute little blurb like thingys that are fun to read through and made me laugh on more than one occasion. And on top of that, all this was very informative. Many things and people in this Compendium, I didn't know before, and loved to learn about.
I think this can count as a must read for anyone who wants to get jnformed about queer history and people and is so much fun! I can only recommend this!
