It is nearly impossible read this book in anything other than Bourdain’s voice. His writing comes across just as his speech does, full of vibrant language and emotion. He can make you feel things deeply while describing the mundane. This book is a raucous, nearly surreal feeling account of a lifestyle, that as explained in the updated versions “Afterword”, has changed dramatically.
