Katharine Parr: The Sixth Wife by Alison Weir

4.0

I have read all the other novels in this series and I think out of all the Queens I liked Katherine Parr the best. The fact that she was essentially brought down by a man (and it wasn't Henry) was a tragedy and strikes me as a fairly modern issue. She fell in love with a man who only loved himself, and what her name could do for him, and it the end it killed her. He didn't seem to care about her at all. He definitely paid too much attention to a teenage girl, if not actually molested her, and his ambition ruined both of them. Yes, childbirth killed her, but everything that lead to her being pregnant was to suit himself. I know this is fiction, but I've read a lot about Katherine and Elizabeth and what happened when she was in her care and from everything I know, I think it's likely there was inappropriate contact. I dislike Tom Seymour!

I did really enjoy this book as I have most of the others. (Jane Seymour was just boring so that's not Weir's fault!). I have loved the vast majority of all her novels and I will definitely read more.
