I've been meaning to read this book forever, and I'm so glad I finally got around to it. It serves as a great introduction to Ojibwe culture by following Daunis, who is a compelling and easy to love main character. Boulley doesn't shy away from the heavy topics she covers or the very real impact they have on both characters and community. She shows that even in the hurt, there is love and the ability to grow. I wish this book had been written when I was still in school, because I know I would have loved it even more.
