Hurricane Season by Lauren K. Denton
4.0
A big thanks to the author and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of Hurricane Season.
Hurricane Season is an emotional story about two sisters who took completely different paths in life, and approach things in completely different ways. The story touches on major emotions like loss, jealousy, love, and risk taking in a beautiful way, and the characters are developed wonderfully throughout the novel.
The novel is centered around an approaching hurricane. Betsy and her husband, Ty, are preparing for the hurricane and manning their dairy farm when Jenna drops her two little girls off with them so she can follow the opportunity of a lifetime. Betsy and Ty settle into some form of parenthood while Jenna spends some time trying to find herself and figure out what she wants to do in life.
One of the things I really loved about this book was that it felt REAL. Every decision that was made in the book, every event that happened, was something that could happen in my life. It wasn't a suspenseful story, and was a bit too slow for my liking, but everything felt so genuine, as if a friend had sent me a really long email about the events of her life. A wonderful spring read!
