Killing the Witches: The Horror of Salem, Massachusetts by Martin Dugard, Bill O'Reilly

4.0

What I Did Like:
+There is a great balance here between story-telling and history lessons. There are points when the author presents something in a story fashion, as if you were there. There are other points when we simply get the history as it was. All of that is brought together with footnotes that point out anything that may have been called historically inaccurate or have been brought into question by the text.
+Incredibly detailed and well-researched account. Things I knew balanced well with things I didn’t and many of the things I’ve learned over the years that I hear people get wrong were correctly stated in this account.
+The book essentially focuses on history from coming to North America right up through the establishment of the country. Salem and the witch trials certainly play a part in this, but ultimately they are only a small piece of this story. The linking of that story to the establishment of the country is well done and clear.

Who Should Read This One:
-Fans of American history who want more information in a well written text.

My Rating: 4 Stars
Well researched and well presented.
