This book should be a must read, and included in k-12 + college curricula. I didn't maintain a family tree, and I recommend that readers do that (if there isn't one in the print copy.... harder to have a tree when you're listening) because you'll want to go back to trace the timelines. Were there really enough family stories to get from 1600-something to the year 2000-something? Even still, the saga told through Africa and America, through slavery, Jim Crow, etc is fascinating as told by Gyasi's narrators. And I can't recommend the audiobook enough! Dominic Hoffman is an outstanding reader, and is able to change pitch/tone/accent depending on whose story he is telling. I'll definitely be re-reading this one in the future.
