Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with this one. I loved the concept of exploring a new connection with meditation from the perspective of a healthcare professional, but it didn’t really live up to expectations.
We heard more about Kelly’s cat, film watching habits, on call shifts, and burger cravings than his actual meditation I feel. But hey, at least the author seemed a little self aware of these facts! Maybe it was more of a realistic depiction of starting a new habit and I’m being too harsh, but given that the book was meant to be about his meditation journey, there just wasn’t enough meditation content to warrant the diary actually being published.
However, saying that, I did enjoy Trixie the cat and the different discussions surrounding pieces of research. And you could very much tell that Kelly was clearly in his element when talking about research.
Overall, a bit of a disappointing read which seemed to miss much of the expectations from its title and description. Maybe I should’ve listened to the reviews…
