i liked this dark taboo cowboy romance for what it was. this was a romance between layla, who is studying to become a vet, and colt, a ranch owner. colt also happens to be layla's ex-boyfriend's dad. and my GOD the man was a grumpiest older man i've ever read and if i ever met him, i too, would be on my fucking hands and knees. the mouth on this man? WOW.

i did think this was a lot longer than it needed to be. and it was slow in terms of both the romance and the plot - however that did increase the tension between layla and colt which i enjoyed, but in terms of the plot, nothing really happened. some parts i felt dragged on.

i appreciated the time and effort the author put into describing what day to day life on an isolated ranch like the one colt had was like. could some of it have been cut down? for sure.

also yay for a childfree by choice FMC!!!
