Not sure if the fault of the narrator or translator or author, but no. It was just way to repetitive. Like if I said: "I went to the beach with my brothers yesterday. It was fun. Yesterday, my brothers and I went to the beach and had fun."
Also, content warnings for suicidal thouhts and sexual assault. I would argue, at least the latter, not written with the best tact (especially with the repetition).
