The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

3.0

i kind of hated it, if you want to know the truth. i could’ve stopped reading it half way in. i swear to god i could’ve.

completely understand why this is a classic - holden is relatable to most people in many ways whether they’d like to admit it or not - but it just wasn’t for me. really great for deeper analysis and would love to write an essay on it, but in terms of enjoyment it was just quite dull and repetitive. i usually love character-driven books and unlikeable characters but this just didn’t do it for me.

my adoration for this book is strictly confined to an english classroom. get it off my bookshelf
