“It’s just you and me, Cujo,”

I expected this book to hit me but not that much.
Damn Erin.
Give me an angry broody vet any day and I will be all over it.
Tristan & Ford are everything.

I was sucked into these two in Book 1. Ford because Silas goes to work for him and Tristan because he is Cades friend/co-worker.
The differences in these two are not so different once you really get to the heart of it really.
Ford is closed off because of his past which he is completely entitled too after we get what happened and prefers to be alone and not have to deal with people, same Ford same.
Tristan is a fixer, plain and simple. I mean he is a paramedic so that in and of itself shows his need to care and or protect. Also, coming from the military as a medic too adds to that.
Except when it comes to each other, they are each others protection.
Ford can't help but want to protect Tristan while also keeping him an arms length away. Tristan feels calm and content with Ford, he doesn't want to change him at all but then doesn't want to come on too strong to fast.

This book broke my heart and slowly stitched it back together by the end.
The struggles and the trauma made my chest ache and I just wanted to hug them both so tight so nothing could get to them.
Ford had me in tears, that struggle is indeed a struggle. The shame attached is what will get you in the end after the euphoria passes. I know that all too well. I felt it. Getting his past was the hardest to swallow and get past because, why. The cruelty is unmatched.
Tristans grief spoke to me the most. His coping was spot on and really drove home the hurt that he harbors after so long.

This book is filled with that delicious spice but more than that there is heartbreak, pain, trauma & loss. Sprinkles of humor in there and the adorable pet names that are the most unexpected.
These two have set themselves high on my favorites list.

Trust me when I say read the note before starting this book. It's not filler, it's there for a reason. The subjects in this book are tough and emotional.

I cant wait to get more from this world but also The Banna.
