Not all stories speak to all listeners, but all listeners can find a story that does, somewhere, sometime. In one form or another.” This is a story that redefines what it is to be lost in a good book. Through interweaving stories, timelines, and realities Zachary Ezra Rawlins falls into an expansive ongoing battle of time and fate, choices and destiny, and for every question answered a dozen new ones are asked.
I enjoyed Morgenstern’s The Night Circus, but this book has me head over heels! It made me think of Cloud Atlas in terms of stories within stories, but on a much more whimsical level. It’s definitely a bibliophile’s book with winks and nods to other stories sprinkled throughout, but in a gentle manner that stays away from being gatekeeperish. I went back and forth between wanting to know how it would end, and wanting the story to keep going!
