This book made me want to drop everything, find a horse and a hat, and ride west immediately. The atmosphere was absolutely impeccable from the start and it did not let up at all. When I was reading this book I was *there*. And the romance?? I ate it up with a spoon. You can feel the tragedy and the anger and the LONGING between Nena and Nestor. The way their relationship heals and develops is so real. There is so much trying to come between them between Nena's family, the Anglos, the vampires, and the trauma and they both experienced that drew them apart. I loved reading their story, I will not lie. I was warned that the vampires weren't as prominent as the title might imply, so I knew where to set my expectation for the horror aspect of this book and I do think that helped. Anyways, if you see me reading cowboy romances in the future, this book is why.
