sickeningly cute, funny, and simple. i don’t want to talk about things i disliked in books if they’re over-shadowed by the nicer things, and even though this one felt like a fanfiction most of the time, it stuck with me as a heart-warming story; something that promises a happy ending; a hug you need on a sad little day. despite the themes it might bring up, it’s more light-hearted—the good defeats the evil, there are literally no negative consequences to anything ever. in hindsight, idealization and glorification can be damaging in this particular situation, because—honestly—politicians aren’t your friends and they will never be. but FRRRR i wasn’t expecting a perfect portrayal of flawed politicians when i reached for this book—i wanted a cute romance, and i got it, so there’s that. i’ve read enough to know that fiction is just fiction. it’s a silly romance for a reason. though i need to complain because the smut was just really bad and had me writhing from cringe duhhh also, alex is actually my baby, and nora is my wife
