Looking for Alaska by John Green

5.0

She collapsed into the enigma of herself.

I wish I had read this book first; before I read Perks of being a wallflower and Paper towns, especially the latter. It's a fantastic book for sure, but I've been noticing a slight repeatability of certain aspects of YA novels. You've the gawky shy protagonist, his quirky friend and this completely gorgeous yet unattainable girl who pretty much shapes his world. However, having said all that, Looking for Alaska still manages to surprise you every once in a while. And it has been a long time since I encountered a book that made me laugh out loud, literally. The characters are presented very well and what I loved about the writing was that it was very poetic in certain parts without being overbearing. The plot as a whole, is a tad bit predictable.
I've always been a huge fan of John Green. This is the book i would suggest to someone starting out on John Green.
DFTBA.
