Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley

4.5

Robin McKinley doesn't get nearly enough credit for her role in inspiring young women and future female voices.

On par with Tamora Pierce and the child/young adult version of The 500 Kingdoms series by Mercedes Lackey, the delightful retellings of classic fairy tales but with bold female leads is empowering to young readers of all genders and paved the way for strong feminist children's literature.

Recommend as a feel-good read for persons of all ages.
