I wasn’t sure at first whether I would like this or not when I first started to listen but it drew me in so quickly. The characters are complex and each have their own arcs.
It’s funny, witty, tense and, whether Ibsen downplayed it or not, a tour de force of feminist literature (for the time; which must have been brave). At first I thought Nora was naive and frivolous but as the story went on I really liked her and was rooting for her.
Torvald was just a creepy dude. I really hate that he referred to her as a “little songbird”, “little dove”, “little…” etc. He clearly just saw her as a belonging that he could do with as he wished and expected her to just be his “little wife”.
Highly recommend the Audrey version of the audiobook.
