The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yōko Ogawa

4.5
At first glance, the professor looks like an eccentric man, with yellow notes stuck on his suit. But what only a few know is that he's a mastermind whose memory lasts only 80 minutes.

The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa was such a joy to read. As someone who could never generate an iota of interest in mathematics, I was surprised by how its beauty was portrayed throughout the book. I could never have imagined someone romanticising mathematics, making it seem so magical. It was a truly mesmerizing read.

The book took me by surprise; it had so much heart. The way the professor touched the life of the housekeeper and her son, Root, was heart-warming. I did not expect to like this book so much, honestly. But it was filled with pure, unconditional love that it made its way to my heart. A light and short read, I highly recommend this one.
